Emilia Platt (U20) won her second race of the season with a dominant front running performance at the final fixture on a sunny Woodbank Park afternoon, Stephen Green Reports.
The Salford Harrier and 2024 National Cross Country Champion was quickly into the lead and looked comfortable throughout the undulating course with a daunting hill climb to go clear of Emily Kearney, who also has two league wins this season, by over thirty seconds by the tape.
Katherine Fitzpatrick had a strong run in third. Sale Harriers took the team win.
Aaron Doyle produced an equally impressive run in the senior men’s race. The Vale Royal athlete looked strong on the steep descent and challenging climbs, to cross the line over 100 metres clear of Joe Mercer, who moved clear of Ryan Worland in the final push to the finish.
First U20 was Jack Catterall of host club Stockport in 23rd, with Chorlton Runners taking team honours.
Constance Jenneson of Buxton enjoyed a 200m plus margin of victory over Isobel Hall, with Rosie Philbin third, in the under 17- girls’ race.
The U17 boys’ event saw a super-close finish as Trafford’s Jay Hutchinson edged teammate Evan Lewis, with Michael Wood of Macclesfield third, as two seconds separated the top three.
Robyn Heywood – Young led a Sale Harriers `1-2 in the under 15 girls’ event, fourteen seconds clear of Caitlin Whetton with Poppy Branch of Stockport third.
Jake Ireland of Macclesfield Harriers, fresh from taking the National U15 title last week at Parliament Hill, had to work hard to pull eight seconds clear of Stockport’s Harry Shatwell, with Ireland’s teammate George O’Donnell third.
Mia Ford of Liverpool scored an eighteen second win ahead of Nia Manson with Imogen Weatherhead third in the under 13 girls. Alistair Riley scored a under 13 boys’ home win for Stockport, 60 metres clear of Lenny Alves, with Jacob Shearing, third.
Jasmine Ragan was the under 11 girls’ winner, ahead of fellow Warrior Jessica Davidson and Sophie McCready. The first U11 boy home was Isaac Taylor-Unitt of Salford Harriers, with Alex Farrell second and Hamish Heginbotham, third.
