Sale Harrier Arlo Ludewick emerged a convincing winner of the senior men’s race, on a cold and biting Saturday afternoon, at Kenworthy Woods, Stephen Green Reports.
Freddie Roden, from the University of Manchester set a searing pace in the first two miles with Ludewick comfortable in the chasing pack. Around mid-race, he employed his 3.41 1500m speed to pull away on the flat area before the ‘Chorlton Alps’ series of climbs.
The Sale Harrier extended his lead to sixteen seconds by the tape over U20 Roden, with Callum Rawlinson moving in third around forty metres down. Sale Harriers were the team winners, with three in the top ten.
Emily Haggard – Kearney (pictured above),continued her remarkable streak of victories in the League to score a resounding victory in the senior women’s race. Haggard-Kearney, fresh from a recent win at the Northern 3000m indoors, took control from the gun, making light of the playing fields and wooded sections.
Her margin of victory was over ninety seconds, with U20 Olivia Lloyd Jones in second, and Salford Harrier Laura Lombard (V40) coming in third around two hundred metres down.
Chorlton Runners, led by Katherine Fitzpatrick in fifth, took the team spoils on the day.
Liam Johnson of St Helen’s Sutton was a runaway winner of the U17 boys’ race, with Jay Hutchinson second, around 250 metres, in arrears and Michael Wood in third. In the U17 girls’ race Holly Cross of Liverpool came home 150 metres clear of Isobel Hall, with Constance Johnstone third.
Isla Yorke, of Warrior’s pulled ten seconds clear of Robyn Heywood – Young, with Caitlin Wetters third, in the U15 girls’ race. Macclesfield Harrier Jake Ireland scored a runaway win, a minute clear of Thomas Wood, with Harry Shatwell, third in the U15 boys’ event.
Eve Beddow led a 1-2 for Warrior’s in the U13 girls’ race pulling clear of Daisy McVicar, with Imogen Weatherhead, third. In the U13 boys’ race, Noah Phillips of Sale edged Alistair Riley on the tape by two seconds, with Ethan Statham, third.
Jasmine Rogan came home first in the U11 girls’ race, ahead of fellow Warrior Jessica Davidson with Melia Ferendenus, third. Salford Harrier’s Isaac Taylor-Unitt was the U11 boys’ victor, next home was Alfie Furnival, with Mason Fletcher third.
The final fixture is at Woodbank Park, Stockport, Saturday 1st March.
