Please note the below item from our AGM in May.
An email was sent to all club reps on 1st January 2024 recommending that effective from Match Three (Tatton Park) and for the final two fixtures, a cut off time of 75 minutes would be introduced for the senior men’s race. The challenge came after Wythenshawe Park (first match of the season) when the last man finished in 97 minutes. If that match had been at Sherdley Park (in December), it would have been dark. This affects officials, marshals and electronic timers etc. There are risks associated with having lone runners on the course.
We are not stopping any age groups but simply saying that any men who think that they might take over 75 minutes, run in the ladies race. They can still count towards the mens Championship if they run with the men, providing they expect to meet the above criteria.
If there are sufficient athletes who take this up, consideration will be given to awards.
We will also monitor times in the ladies race, to ensure that an enjoyable and safe race is had by all. We did have a complaint previously from a lady still running while the men were racing and who felt it unsafe to have hundreds of men in fast packs run past her.
The Constitution of the League is being updated to reflect the above.
